New energy is the trend! Traditional oil company BP acquires the UK's largest electric vehicle charging company

BP recently announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Chargemaster, the UK's largest electric vehicle (EV) charging company, which operates the UK's largest public network of EV charging stations, with more than 6,500 locations across the country. It also designs, builds, sells and maintains EV charging units for a variety of sites, including home charging units. The acquisition will cost approximately £130 million

 BP Chargemaster brings together the UK's leading fuel retailer and largest charging company and will provide a truly differentiated service to the growing number of electric vehicle owners within the UK," said Tuy Fan, CEO of BP's downstream business. 

"At BP, we believe that fast, convenient charging is critical to the successful uptake of electric vehicles, and the expertise, experience and assets of BP and Chargemaster are complementary. The combination of their strengths is an important step in BP's efforts to provide fast and ultra-fast charging services at locations across the UK. Whether on the road or at home, BP can serve low carbon vehicles and be a leading energy provider." 

BP Executive Vice President Dai Shangya told Big Travel Next that this is a 100% acquisition of the UK's largest electric vehicle charging company and that electric vehicles are becoming an important way to get around. We are also exploring new models for charging and retailing. At the same time, BP plans to invest about $200 million a year to help incubate and develop more low-carbon solutions, making BP a truly important part of the energy transition through the above actions.

The number of EVs on the road is expected to increase rapidly in the coming decades. By 2040, BP expects there will be 12 million EVs on UK roads, far more than the approximately 135,000 in 2017. 

The development of convenient and innovative EV charging technologies and networks is a key element of BP's strategy to advance the energy transition, and BP is committed to developing new products and services to meet evolving customer needs, while developing new businesses that support customers' seeding/species opportunities to reduce/emit/release. 

BP believes that in order to accelerate the uptake of EVs, customers must have access to convenient fast and ultra-fast charging services, and BP's retail network in the UK is ready to provide this service to more than 1,200 stations in the country. charging units with a range of 100 miles on a 10-minute charge. It is expected that within the next 12 months, consumers in the UK will be able to use BP Chargemaster charging units at BP gas stations. 

BP's main business activities in China include oil and gas exploration and development, petrochemical production and sales, aviation fuel supply, retailing of refined products, lubricant business, oil and gas supply and trading, LNG receiving stations and gas transmission lines, and chemical technology licensing.
